The print

Are the prints limited edition?

Some are. A limited edition is printed in a fixed run, signed and numbered by hand, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. An open edition is neither signed nor numbered, is printed to order, and costs less. Each plate says which it is on its own page.

What are the prints made of?

Three surfaces. Each plate lists the ones available for it.

• Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta — a cotton rag archival paper, delivered unframed.
• Fujicolor Crystal Archive DP II, under acrylic — silver-halide colour paper, laser-exposed and developed in chemistry, then sealed beneath acrylic on an aluminium backing. Fujicolor rates it non-fade for at least seventy-five years.
• Ilford monochrome, under acrylic — a true silver black-and-white paper. It is panchromatic, so every tone in the scene resolves to its own shade of grey rather than to colour drained out afterwards.

Both acrylic formats are bonded to aluminium, silicone-sealed at the edges, and arrive ready to hang with the hardware.

How long will a print last?

Archival materials throughout, chosen for exactly that. Kept out of direct sunlight and handled properly, a print should hold its colour and its blacks for generations.

Buying and shipping

Can I have a size that is not listed?

Yes. The listed sizes are the ones I print regularly; anything beyond them depends on the file and the material. Write to the studio and I will tell you what is possible.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, everywhere. Every print is made to order, so allow two to four weeks before it ships. Delivery after that depends on the destination and the size of the piece.

Living with it

How should I care for a print?

The acrylic pieces arrive sealed. They need nothing but a dry cloth across the face.

A paper print wants three things.

• Frame it with acid-free materials. Acidic mounts and backing boards attack a print from behind, slowly, and the damage cannot be undone.
• Hang it out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure fades the image and warps the sheet.
• Handle it by the edges. Clean the glazing, never the print. Fingerprints on the surface are permanent.

How do I hear about new work?

There is a newsletter, and the sign-up is at the foot of every page. A few times a year, from the field: new field notes go out to it as they are published. Instagram and Threads are linked in the footer too.
